Dancing Matt

I know we’ve discussed us having doing some dancing this term and that got a mixed response. On the same topic, although from a different perspective, I want you all to have a look at this video. Some of you will have already seen a previous version of this video. This is the 2012 version. Once you’ve watched it i want you to answer the following questions:

  • Why do you think these videos make people smile?
  • Was there anything that surprised you  in this video?
  • Who is teaching who here?
  • Why do you think Matt does this?
  • Can you see a good use for these videos?

  1. Here are my answers:

I think these videos make people smile because the video is from all around the world (literally!) and there are so many diferent styles of things that we had no idea about. (Plus, the guy who did this video was alwalys making funny faces and actions.)

What suprised me is that I had no idea that there were sooooo many diferent cultures and people out in the world.

I think that the big groups were organised by Matt, but the smaller groups were teaching him.

I think Matt does this to show that there are so many different things in the world that are not known to many people.

As I said above, to show how many things are out in the world that we have no idea about.

  2. Hi Pam,
I think people enjoy seeing other cultures that are very different but in some ways through dance, very much the same.
I was surprised by the amount of places that Matt visited.
Sometimes Matt was teaching them, sometimes they were teaching him and sometimes it was combined.
He wants to show us that we’re all human beings no matter where we live and that even if we speak different languages, dance is a way of communicating. I think it’s a passion of his that he’s very devoted to.
We should show them to politicians of countries who are at war. In fact, we should show them to all politicians because I believe that it shows people how much everyone can connect with each other.

  6. First of all, I think these videos make people smile because some parts are funny but also because there are some parts which you might never of thought possible e.g. when Matt danced with the people in wheelchairs. I was surprised by how many places Matt went to do the dancing, he has just about travelled around the world! I wasn’t so sure who was teaching in some parts of the video but I think most of the people from different countries taught Matt their dances. I think Matt does this to make people from all around the world enjoy dancing and have a good time. I can see a good use for these videos because viewers can see many different dances from many different places around the world and they can learn something new.

  7. Hey Pam it’s Zoe,
I think these videos make people smile because the people that are dancing with Matt are having fun and they smile which in my case makes me smile.

One thing that suprised me was that the amount of people Matt got to dance with him.

I think the people from the different countries are teaching him because when he was with the cheer leaders they were teaching him.

I have no idea why Matt does this.

I can see a good use to these videos because it might be inspiring to others and he shows how to connect to people in the community through song and dance.

    Regards Zoe!!;)

  8. I think these videos make people smile because a Man is going to so many places and dancing in all the different styles of all the different cultures in the world.

I was surprised that people in Afghanistan could juggle since i always thought that juggling was a English originated thing.

I think that the people from the different cultures taught Matt the moves because most of them looked like something you would do in some kind of ritual or ceremony.

I think Matt does this to inspire other people to travel all over the world and look at different cultures.

I think that 1 good use for this video is comparing different cultures dancing styles.

  9. Everyone around the world is taking part and enjoying themselves

Strict countries taking part such as: North Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan

Both Matt and the country are teaching each other

To put a smile on people’s faces

It brings together a variety of different cultures

  10. Hi Pam,
I think it makes people smile because it is creative and you can see that the people doing it are enjoying it. Nothing in this video surprised me. It all seemed pretty straight forward. In most cases the people were teaching Matt, but when it was the mobs of people I think Matt was teaching them. I think Matt would do this because he seems to enjoy it and the people do too! I don’t think it would have many uses because it is just a video, but people are clearly happy to watch it so leave it as a video.

    3. The locals are teaching Matt how to dance like them.

    4. Because he is learning new dancing and showing everyone they can dance.

    5. I can because it shows that people around the world that they can dance as well to all kind of music.
    Zac

  12. 1. Because someone is willing to go all around the world to learn a dance from each place he goes to and puts it all together into a video.

    2. How well he learnt the dances.

    3. Well the people he meets teach him and he could teach us so the people he meets are teaching everyone.

    4. So he can make people happy and he learns new dances.

    5. Yes. To teach people different dances from different countries.

  13. Hey Pam it’s Holly,
I think these videos make people smile because the people that are dancing with Matt are enjoying them selves and are happy.

The thing that suprised me was that the amount of people Matt got to dance with because I thought there would be less.

I thought that Matt was teaching them and they were teaching him and sometimes they were teaching each other.

I think Matt does this because he would want to learn different dancing styles from other countries.

I can see a good use to these videos because it might be inspiring to other people that watch these videos and he shows that you can connect in dance with people from other cultures.
