As most of you are aware the recent heatwave in South Australia & Victoria was record-breaking and has had devastating consequences for many. Our native animals have suffered, finding it difficult to obtain drinking water. Thanks to Kath (Kye’s mum) for sharing these photos of some very thirsty koalas.

Thanks to Tim Noonan of the ABC for his kind permission to use photos 11 & 12. I’m not 100% sure of the owners of the other photos, but if they are yours please contact me to let me know so that I can either acknowledge you as the photographer or remove them if you prefer.
Last week our school ran a coin run to raise money for people affected by the Victorian bushfires. We had a great response & raised $3026.25! It has reminded us what a caring community our school is. It also brought to mind a website I was looking at recently – Random Acts of Kindness. This organisation has branches worldwide. Of course we don’t have to wait until Australia’s 16 Days of Kindness in November, we could start right now! Check out this calendar for the American Foundation’s Random Acts of Kindness Week. How are you going to start? How will you show someone some kindness? Post a comment to share your ideas.
A kindness can be acting out all of those lovely, ’soft’ words that are in our vocabulary, words such as caring, thoughtful, loving, sympathetic, gentle, considerate, warm, compassionate, understanding, forgiving, friendly, tender, amiable, genial, unselfish, generous, helpful, supporting, nurturing. These are words that acknowledge, respect, join, unite, words that build bridges between us. And oh, how the world needs such words! Wouldn’t it be wonderful to sprinkle more of these words and actions in our home, our work, our community? Humankind is capable of such beautiful things, and how sad it is that we lose sight of this all too easily. Random Acts of Kindness

Thank you to everyone who came to our Acquaintance Night last week. As promised here is the link for you all to have a go at the Multiple Intelligences Test that the students did a couple of weeks ago.
As part of our fitness we are all learning the Cha Cha Slide & will hopefully be performing it at assembly in Week 6. Have a look at the Cha Cha Slide here – maybe someone will teach you how to do it!
Don’t know about you but I am so looking forward to the cooler weather this week. Won’t it be nice to be able to go out for recess & lunch and even fitness & PE?!
Thank you to those of you who have commented on the blog and answered the questions in last week’s post. If you haven’t done that yet please do it by the end of this week. Also a big thank you to Emma’s mum for being the first parent to comment on our class blog! Thanks Lisa!
